"Stone" soup

This was SO easy - cheap and good, too. Start with a large roaster or pan, add some broth (beef or chicken depending on the flavor you want), hamburger that has been browned, diced canned or fresh tomatoes, celery, chopped onion, and any kind of vegetables you like- potatoes, corn, green beans, etc. We used some kielbasa sausage as well. We used a small amount of pepper and some Italian seasoning mix for spices. (broth is salty enough so we didn't add that) Simmer for a couple hours and serve with French bread or any other kind (corn muffins/bread is also good).

We all contributed some ingredients - it becomes a hearty thick soup. Was fun to do this.

Judy,
Thanks for the recipe :D . The soup looked great. I'm going to try and make it, but in a Crock Pot. Have you ever made it in smaller portions? It would be good for Tailgating the end of October.

Crock pot would be fine - just smaller amounts of the same things. I have also used a small piece of steak cut into cubes rather than hamburger - whatever you like best. Depending on how long you want to cook it you can set the temp on high? or low? That's the beauty of it - you can put in what you like and adjust everything!
