Planning a 2018 trip to Alaska-your experiences?

Postby Stevejuliehoff » Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:21 pm

Hi All!

We are planning on spending 3-4 months next year in Alaska, leaving Utah in mid-June. Of course we have wish lists, Denali NP, the Northern Lights, fishing, wildlife viewing, etc... So we have a basic outline of where to start, but with so many options, we are wondering what experiences our fellow FROGers have had?

Thanks!

Steve, there have been many of us who have been to Alaska. RamblinReck (forum name) is there now and has a thread chronicling his trip. He has a blog that he posts the links to. I think that if you go through his thread, you will find answers to a lot of your questions.

Here is a link to his thread: http://www.cedarcreekrvownersclub.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=3893

If you have other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. A trip to Alaska is one in a lifetime!

As others have stated, reservations are needed far in advance - especially if you plan to do bear watching on Kodiak Island or Katmai pennisula.

Thank you Jerry and Irene! We've been off the grid with the weather lately, so I guess it's just practice for next year.

Planning update:

We have been following ramblingwreck's blog, and what a great resource it is! Today we purchased the following books to help us plan the trip next year:

The Milepost
Big Rigs Best Bets

Once we get the books we will let you know how useful they are for planning. :)
